Yes, like so many others I have received the dreaded Error E03 after the one year warranty was up. The product was used minimally (since it was only for my sump pump). It states in the manual for error E03: (Have the damaged product serviced by a qualified technician).

When I called customer support they told me the unit is unrepairable. But how can that be I asked. Supports response was the manual doesn't state the damaged product be serviced by a qualified Xantrex technician (I repeat Xantrex technician) but only states qualified technician. If Xantrex refuses to repair it, and they tell me I need to buy a new one (30 percent off with the loyalty discount) the product in my opion is a faulty design. I asked them if they had any known problems or if they redesigned the current ones. They said no, everything was fine. As on today May 17, 2011 they do not list the Powersource 1800 on their website but customer service told me it was still in their current product lineup.

The only reason I wrote this review was to inform new customers of what I have gone through. It was only when I tested it that the E03 came on. If I did't test it would be a disaster waiting to happen (flooded basement).

When you buy a poduct that states it is repairable and they change it to unrepairable, I have to say the company is less than honorable. Shame on you Xantrex (Schneider Electric) for not supporting your products.

I know batteries go bad and electronics fail, so normaly I would chalk it up being just a lemon. But in this instance I think it something more.

I know batteries go bad and electronics fail, so normaly I would chalk it up being just a lemon. But in this instance I think it something more. I have this as a backup for my sump pump for 2 months. I received the product promptly, plugged it in and it worked! Although I was surprised it took about 8 hours to fully charge given it said 90% charged.

Nonetheless, it finally did charge to FUL and has remained that way. I have not had to run the pump yet off the battery.

My pump is plugged into box and it works off A/C so that part works and using a light I tested when power goes off that the battery automatically kicks in to keep light on. The reason I did not give 5 rating is that it is advertised you can add a second battery, but that is not for the faint of heart as you need to remove the cover. I haven't tried that yet. Also an external access to the internal 12 V battery would be nice feature, so it could be used as emergency car start. It is a ashame to have this so close but not available. Update Dec 2010.

I had this for over 2 years and still working fine. I have had 3 power outages where this needed to run my sump pump and one recently for severals hours. It works and gives me some peace of mind.
