Tinie Tempah Disc Overy Mediafire
The album that charted at Number 1 today is Disc-Overy (which I keep reading as ‘disc-ovary’). It’s the product of one the most talked about new artists in the UK today, Tinie Tempah, and his other so-cool-it-hurts pals from the world of upcoming talent. The 21-year-old’s winning formula is pumping tunes with the cheeky suave of grime, euphoric beats and feel-good lyrics that make you want to lift your bottle in a club and sing along. Tempah’s explosion in 2010 came literally overnight, with the hit Pass Out (featuring Simon Cowell’s newest prodigy, solo artist Labrinth), reaching Number 1 in March. Pioneering Tinie is the first artist to also offer his album using a digital lanyard, allowing the buyer to download not only the entire album digitally, but also access exclusive videos, pictures and wallpapers.
It also doubles up as a cheeky promotion from anyone who keeps their keys on it after they’ve enjoyed the tunes. Of course, the big hits, Pass Out, Frisky, and Miami 2 Ibiza lead the album. The overturn of new rap artists in the UK is outrageous, but I chose to review this album because Tinie is the first artist to offer something different than the generic dancefloor anthems featuring wailing voice solos from female minor-celebrities and bring a new style to the table which also appeals to the masses. With artists like Chipmunk and Roll Deep battling to be the best breakthrough artist this year, the hype around Tinie surely takes the (chocolate) biscuit. The rest of the album tracks are a mixture of chilled out beats and sing-along tunes. Let Go reminds me too much of N-Dubz to enjoy, with Emeli Sande providing vocals which detract from the mood of the track. Snap offers an insight into youth, journeys and the fast-moving times, with clear reggae and dubstep influences melting through the bars, Illusion, whilst being a similar track, has more of a feel-good vibe but melts too easily into Snap to stand alone as a song.
The stand-out track for me has to be Just a Little which isn’t billed for single release but is the real hidden gem on the album. It’s less of an anthem and more of a catchy track which harks to Iyaz’s earlier summer hit Replay about love. My other favourite track comes in the form of Simply Unstoppable which is a real pumper to play with your car windows rolled all the way down. Bassy and beautiful, it makes you want to nod your head. It’s similar to Ne-Yo’s track Beautiful Monster with 90s style euphoric beats sneaking into it and provides a real postmodern mash-up. The biggest name on Disc-Overy is the former Destiny’s Child goddess Kelly Rowland, who’s become a dance hit poster girl after trying a tricky breakaway from the 90s girlband and eventually collaborating with David Guetta.
